West Village is transforming a 2.6ha former industrial precinct on Boundary Street, West End, into a vibrant mix of new residences, shops and public places.

Construction of Stage 1 is now complete, with first residents moving in late 2018. Stage 1 comprises one, two and three bedroom apartments in two 15-storey buildings and two terrace homes facing Wilson Street.

3,300 sqm of publicly accessible space, including a new park, opened in October 2018.

Excavation works for the future residential stages, retail and public car parking commenced in 2018 and is now more than 90% complete.

The Bromley Room

The popular Bromley Room, in the historic Peters Ice Cream Factory at West Village, reopened in October 2018!

Following a five month closure to allow for renovations, the famous Australian artist’s sculptures and paintings have reappeared in an exciting new space at West Village.

Multiple Archibald Prize finalist David Bromley first opened the doors to the Bromley Room in April 2017 – an arts and events studio that included a specially commissioned exhibition of Bromley’s works (paintings and sculptures).

Bromley and his wife Yuge curated the exhibition as part of a 12-month artist-in-residence project that resulted from a commitment by West Village to bring art onto the site and invest in the local community.

The studio has also included some of the Blackman by Bromley series – original works painted in collaboration with famed Australian artist Charles Blackman and his family – and works by Brisbane street artist Lucks, who has been mentored by Bromley.

The Bromley Room has hosted dinners, fashion shows, corporate events, artist-in-residence weekends and wedding receptions. 29 events have raised more than $17,000 for charities, including Alzheimer’s Australia, Anglicare, Beanies for Brain Cancer, Youngcare, Chhori Chhari Children’s Foundation and Australian Cancer Research Foundation.
