How has the Engagement Changed the project?
The community was heavily involved in shaping the West Village proposal and the project is a better development because of this input.
Some of the ways community feedback influenced West Village include:
- Doubling of the amount of parkland, and the fast-tracking of Boundary Street Common
- An increase of publicly accessible space from 20% to 30% of the site area
- A new pedestrian and cycling link from Little Jane Street to Mollison Street
- Achieving a Five Star Green Star Communities rating
- Providing a 500m2 tenancy for community use
- The inclusion of an artist-in-residence program
- The inclusion of townhouses to provide housing diversity
- The inclusion of child care
- The inclusion of GoGet car share
- The move to a more diverse retailer mix, including independent, local and boutique stores
